isions of gingerbread houses have been
dancing in my head ever since my son, Fuller,
was born three years ago. Actually, they’re
visions of the graham cracker houses that I
used to slather with frosting and coat in
candy—a tradition my mom carried on in our
neighborhood for more than two decades.
When Fuller hit the toddler stage, I
decided it was time to bring gingerbread-
house-making to my Baton Rouge home.
Following my mom’s keep-it-simple lead, I
stick with the no-bake graham cracker
version, and I ask each little guest to bring a
bag of candy to add to the pool of decorations.
